Salary hike for Government workers:

Kathmandu, 22 July (Dainikee)

This year the Budget seems promising enough for development of infrastructure, education and other social welfare programs. However, it did not make any boost in case of salaries of government staffs. The 2008/09 year budget forecast of 13% inflation rate has led to a permanent rise in the price of commodities. However to survive in this inflated economic environment, the budget has very little to offer to the government staffs.

Government has increased civil servants’ salary by 4 and 6 percents, plus Rs. 1200 per month as allowance. But the employee unions are still dissatisfied with the amount of increments and are continuing their protest.
